Take the quizTed Lasso Season 4 premiered August 5, 2026 on Apple TV, with new episodes dropping weekly through October 7. Jason Sudeikis is back as Ted, now coaching a second division women's football team after leaving AFC Richmond at the end of what everyone assumed was the series finale. Ten episodes total, most of the original cast returning, and a handful of new faces.
Wait, didn't Ted Lasso already end?
Yes. Season 3 wrapped in 2023 with Ted quitting his job at AFC Richmond and flying home to Kansas City to be closer to his son. It was written, shot, and marketed as the ending. Then, in January 2026, Apple TV posted a short teaser confirming a fourth season was coming that summer, and here we are.
What's the premise of Season 4?
Ted returns to Richmond, but not to coach the men's Premier League club he left. This time he's taking on a second division women's football team, described by Apple as "his biggest challenge yet." According to the official synopsis, Ted and the team spend the season learning to "leap before they look."
When does Ted Lasso Season 4 come out, and how many episodes are there?
The premiere landed August 5, 2026, with one new episode released every Wednesday after that through the finale on October 7. That's ten episodes total, the same weekly rollout structure the show has always used.
Who's in the cast?
Jason Sudeikis returns as Ted and continues as an executive producer. Hannah Waddingham is back as Rebecca Welton, Juno Temple returns as Keeley Jones, Brett Goldstein returns as Roy Kent, and Brendan Hunt and Jeremy Swift both return as Coach Beard and Leslie Higgins. New additions include Tanya Reynolds, Jude Mack, Faye Marsay, Rex Hayes, Aisling Sharkey, Abbie Hern, and Grant Feely, stepping into the role of Ted's son, Henry.
Why did it take Apple this long to confirm the season was actually happening?
Some of it came down to contracts. Apple had to renegotiate agreements with cast members including Hannah Waddingham, Brett Goldstein, and Jeremy Swift, whose SAG-AFTRA deals had expired after the show wrapped what was supposed to be its final season. Production quietly got underway in July 2025, well over a year after Season 3 aired.
Do you need to have watched the earlier seasons first?
Yes, without question. Ted's entire arc, his relationship with Rebecca, his history with Keeley, and the emotional weight of him leaving Richmond in the first place all depend on you having sat through the first three seasons. This isn't a soft reboot you can jump into cold.
