TV series recommendations: find your next binge by mood

A short mini-series you can finish across one weekend, or a long-runner to live in for a year — tell us which evening you're having, and we'll pick the right shape of show.

How the series quiz works

Eight short questions about your mood, the time you have, and the kind of series experience you want tonight. Each answer translates into a real filter the catalog already accepts — no AI guessing, no invented titles.

What we ask

  • How much of a commitment do you want — mini-series, one season, or a long-runner?
  • Episode length preference — 30 minutes or 60?
  • Watching alone, with a partner, or with family?
  • Tone — light, dark, or anywhere in between?
  • Era — recent (last 5 years), modern (since 2000) or anything?
  • Genre lean — thriller, drama, sci-fi, comedy, period…

What you get back

  • 6–10 series per shortlist with posters, scores and synopses
  • Season and episode counts (so you know what you're signing up for)
  • Where to stream, when TMDB has the data
  • A 'more like this' button for the next batch

Where the recommendations come from

The TV series quiz uses TMDB's /discover/tv endpoint with genre, era, score and provider filters. Each pick is a real show in TMDB's catalog with current season, episode count and streaming availability.

Frequently asked questions

How are series recommendations chosen?

Eight questions about your mood, tone preference, social context and commitment length. Answers map to TMDB's /discover/tv filters — genre IDs (Action & Adventure, Sci-Fi & Fantasy, Drama, etc.), vote-average and era — and we return the best-matching shows with season and episode counts.

Can I find mini-series only?

Yes. The 'commitment' question lets you pick mini-series, one-season-and-done shows, or long-runners — and the shortlist is filtered accordingly.

Does it show where to stream?

When TMDB has streaming provider data for your region, yes — each series card includes the platforms that carry it.
