Book recommendations by mood: find your next read
Genre tells you the shelf; mood tells you the book. Tell us the pace, depth and length you want and we'll cross Google Books and Open Library to find real titles with covers, descriptions and where to read.
How the books quiz works
Eight short questions about your mood, the time you have, and the kind of books experience you want tonight. Each answer translates into a real filter the catalog already accepts — no AI guessing, no invented titles.
What we ask
- Pace — slow and atmospheric, or propulsive and tight?
- Depth — easy company, or something to sit with?
- Length — under 250 pages, 250–500, or no cap?
- Fiction or non-fiction?
- Tone — warm, sharp, dark, weird?
- Familiar names, or undiscovered?
What you get back
- 6–10 books per shortlist with covers and authors
- A short description per pick
- Read-online or preview links via Open Library when available
- A 'more like this' button for the next batch
Where the recommendations come from
The book quiz uses Google Books for catalog data, author and description, and Open Library for covers and read-online links. No login, no API key.
