What we collect, and what we don't.

Suggest Me Something is a small, independent site. There's no login, no user account, and no shopping cart. This page explains, in plain English, what happens with data when you use it.

What we collect

We use Google Analytics 4 to see basic, anonymous traffic — things like how many people visited a page, which country broadly, and which browser. Google may set analytics cookies for this. We use this only to understand what's useful and what isn't.

Advertising

Suggest Me Something uses Google AdSense to show ads, which is how a small, independent site like this one covers its costs. Google and its advertising partners may set cookies or use device identifiers on this site to personalize ads, measure their performance, and prevent fraud. We don't control what Google or its partners do with that data beyond what's described in Google's own policy on how data is used in partner sites and apps. You can see and adjust the specific ad-tech providers active on this site, and manage your consent choices, through the privacy prompt shown when you first visit.

If you're in the European Economic Area, the UK, or Switzerland, we ask for your consent before using non-essential cookies or personalizing ads, through a consent banner integrated with the IAB Transparency & Consent Framework. You can change your choice at any time by clearing the consent cookie in your browser and reloading the page.

If you're a California resident, you have the right to opt out of the "sale" or "sharing" of personal information as defined under the CCPA/CPRA; the consent controls described above cover that choice as well. If you're elsewhere and your local law gives you a right to object to ad personalization, the same controls apply.

What we don't collect

There are no accounts on Suggest Me Something, so we don't have your name, email or password. We don't ask for a phone number. We don't have a database of "users." Beyond analytics and the advertising data described above, we don't build our own profile of you.

Your quiz answers

When you take a quiz, your answers are encoded into the page URL itself and read back out on the results page. They are not stored on a server. That's why two different people who happen to take the same quiz on the same day get results independently — there is no shared record of what anyone answered.

Third-party catalogs

Recommendations are fetched live from public catalogs — TMDB, OMDb, the Apple Music / iTunes Search API, Google Books, Open Library and Jikan/MyAnimeList. Those requests are made from our servers, not from you directly, so those services don't see your IP address. Their data belongs to them; their own privacy policies cover their operations.

What we never do

• We don't sell your data ourselves, and we don't maintain an advertiser database of our own.
• We don't share anything with advertisers or third parties beyond the Google Analytics and Google AdSense data described above, and only with your consent where consent is legally required.
• We don't email you — because we don't have your email.
