Wanda's long struggle with addiction and Leon's move away from dealing are both told there, so The Drop's opening, with Wanda trying to build a life in music, lands harder if you watched her get there. Leon's loyalty to the old neighbourhood also carries history from the original.
If you want to watch Snowfall but don't have 60 episodes' time
Seasons 1 and 2 set up the world and are among the show's strongest. If you only want the Wanda and Leon context, the final two seasons cover the most important stretch of their stories. You'll miss detail, but the main arcs will make sense.
