Why start with Interview?
Louis tells his story to a reporter, and Lestat comes across as a monster. The Vampire Lestat then lets Lestat answer back, which only works if you've read Louis first. The Queen of the Damned widens the story to the oldest vampires. Many readers stop after these three, or after The Tale of the Body Thief.
How the TV series fits
AMC's Interview with the Vampire (2022 onward), with Jacob Anderson as Louis and Sam Reid as Lestat, retells the books with big changes, such as setting Louis's story in 1910s New Orleans. Season 3, The Vampire Lestat, aired from June 7 to July 19, 2026, with Lestat as a rock star. It's part of AMC's Immortal Universe with Mayfair Witches and Talamasca: The Secret Order.
