- Reminders of Him (March 13, 2026, Universal). A woman released from prison (Maika Monroe) tries to reconnect with the daughter she has never been allowed to meet. Reviews were mixed, but it made about $89 million on a $25 million budget.
- Verity (October 2, 2026, Amazon MGM). A struggling writer (Dakota Johnson) is hired to finish the books of a famous author (Anne Hathaway) left unable to work after an accident, and moves into her house. Michael Showalter directs, and Josh Hartnett co-stars. It's a 114-minute, R-rated psychological thriller, far darker than the others. Early reviews are poor, in the 30 to 40% range on Rotten Tomatoes, but it was projected to open at No. 1 in the US.
Why studios keep adapting her
The numbers explain it. Each of the first three films cost around $25 to $30 million and made roughly three times that or more in cinemas, before streaming. Hoover's readers turn up regardless of reviews, which makes her books one of the safest bets in a genre, adult romance and drama, that studios had largely stopped making for cinemas.
