What it is
Dragon Ball Super originally ran from 2015 to 2018 for 131 episodes. Its first arcs retold the films Battle of Gods and Resurrection F, and their TV animation was widely criticised for off-model drawings and rushed fights. Dragon Ball Super: Beerus is Toei Animation's answer: an "enhanced edition" with updated animation, redrawn cuts, newly recorded voice performances and a reconstructed storyline. Toei has said the work began several years ago.
Who's making it
Matsuto Seya is unit director and handles series composition. Tadayoshi Yamamuro, the franchise's veteran animator, does character design and chief animation direction. Masako Nozawa returns as Goku and Kōichi Yamadera as Beerus. The opening theme is "Onogami" by Megatera-Zero, and the ending is "Kanpeki no Peki" by VK Blanka.
Should you watch it?
If you're new to Dragon Ball Super, this is now the best way to start, since it fixes the weakest-looking stretch of the original. If you've seen Super, it's the same story with better animation, so it's for completists and fans of the God of Destruction arc. The rest of Super, including the Tournament of Power, hasn't been confirmed for the remake.
